WILL OF VALENTINE INMAN

    In the name of God Amen the Seventh day of March in the twenty seventh year of his Majesty's Reign George the Second King of Great Britain Anno Domini 1754: I Valentine Inman of Glocester in the County of Providence & Colony of Rhode Island Husbandman; Being very weak & sick in body but by the blessing of God of Perfect mind & memory thanks be given to God for the same, therefore Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed unto men once to die, and not knowing how soon it may please God to Remove me out of this life and as such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me in this life with I give custody and possession of in manner and form as followeth:

    But foremost and First of all I give my Soul into the hand of almighty God & my body to the Earth to be decently buried in decent Christian burial Nothing doubting but I shall receive such as but as my generous God shall be pledged to give me by his mighty power at the Resurrection.

    Firstly I give to my Loveing son John Inman my home Stead & Farm where on I now dwell to be bounded no further Westward than a brook Called Stoney Brook and all my Homestead Farm eastward of the said Stoney Brook: House, Orchard, Meadow & Improvement I give to my son John Inman his heirs & assigns For ever.

    Secondly I give to my Loveing Son Ozeal Inman: all My land that is laid out to me: excepting a twenty acre lot where Thomas Eddy did live, all my other lands I give to my Son Oziel Inman his heirs & assigns for ever.

    Thirdly I give to my Loveing Wife Ruth Inman, One hundred pounds in Money of tender and my bed that I Lye on I give to her during her Widow Hood, and then to be returned to my two Sons John and Ozial & to be equally given to them and I give to my wife Sundry Other Neccesitys So as to keep house with & to be returned with the bed as afore said.

    Fourthly, I give to my Loveing Daugher Tabathy Eddy Ten pounds in Money of tender, and my will is that all my stock in Creatures and my Farming & hunsbandry tools be equally divided between my two Sons John Inman and Ozial Inman.

    And my will Further is that Sarah Eddy and Mary Eddy shall have My other Feather bed equally between them. And my Will is that my son Ozial Inman Shall have Liberty to cut five Sod of Hay for the space of four years on this my old meadow: and my will is that my two Sons John and Ozial Inman Shall have my right in the undivided Land or common equally divided between them two: which I give to them their heirs & assigns For ever.

    Lastly, I do Nominate and appoint my two sons John Inman and Ozial Inman to be the Sole executors and administrators to sell that twenty one lot of land where Thomas Eddy did live as soon as may be & to deliver the Money to my Loveing Daughter Jemima Eddy, in order to help her bring up her Child.

    And to pay all my debts & to receive all my just debts and to see my body decently buried in decent christian buril, And in confirmation of this my Last Will & Testament do here by make void & disanul all Other or Former Wills made by me Ratifying this & no other to be my last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I have here unto set my hand & Seal the day of the year above said.
