GEORGE B. WOODRUFF b 1780, Brunswick County, Va., d 1863, Franklin Co., Mo., and buried Rommelman Cem., formerly a part of the Woodruff homestead in Boon Twnp. He was of the lineage of Richard Woodruff Sr and his wife, Mary of Surry Co., Va; George Woodruff Sr and wife, Patience of Brunswick Co., Va and George Woodruff Jr and his wife, Ann of Brunswlck Co., Va. (See Tall Trees in the Forest, The Woodruff Family of Virginia., Ala., and Mo., Revised Edition by Audrey Lee Woodruff.)

He m SARAH 'SALLY' MANNING of Brunswick Co., Va., 30 March 1808, dau of Joel and his wife (1) _______? (Phipps) Manning. She was b 1785 and d 1842, Madison Co., Ala., and buried in Possum Hollow Cem., 3 mi., SW of Owens Cross Roads. He m (2) JANE (INMAN) FERGUSON, widow of Thomas Ferguson and dau of John Ritchie Inman and his wife, Jane Patterson (Walker) Inman. Jane was b 1 Jan 1817, Madison Co.,Ala., and d 17 June 1898, buried Rommelman Cem.

George B. Woodruff took his family to Madison County, Alabama in 1825. They rem. to Franklin Courty, Missouri (1843). There were six chn. by the first wife (names of three daus unknown) and six by the second. In addition there were four step-children who went by the name of Woodruff: Sarah Ann; Nancy; Thomas K. and William Ferguson Woodruff.

1) Joseph Phipps Woodruff b 4 Apr 1809, Brunswlck Co., Va., d 1863, buried Rommelman Cem., m Elizabeth W. Inman, 5 May 1831, Madison Co., Ala. She was a dau of John Ritchie Inman and his wife, Jane Patterson (Walker) Inman. Elizabeth Inman was b 1815 d 1867. She m (2) William Heathcock. There were nine chn by the first marriage: Benjamin Walker b 1832; John Manning Woodruff b 1833; Sarah J b 1835; Frances E b 1838; James A b 1840; Albert H b 1843; Julia Ann b 1845; Amanda b 1848; and Mary Henrietta Woodruff b 1851.

2) Benjamin Allen Woodruff b 1813, Brunswick County, Va., d 1853 in Colorado durng the Gold Rush Days. He m Caroline Matilda Inman in Madison Co., Ala 20 Dec 1836. She was a dau of John Ritchie and Jane Patterson (Walker) Inman and was b 1820 d 1890, Gasconade Co., Mo. She m (2) John Jump. The chn of Benjamin A were: Martha b 1837; George W b 1839; Shadrack Walker Woodruff b 1841; Joseph M b 1844; Hannah b 1847; Wm Pinkerton Woodruff b 1849, (gf of Rev Howard Walker Woodruff) and Benjamin Franklin Woodruff b 1850.
