INMAN - Born in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, in 1810, Mary Alden, daughter of John and Elizabeth Alden was married to Walter S. Inman in 1830 in Luzerne County.

Their first child, Elizabeth, was born in Zanesburg, PA, in 1833. Then the young family started on their moves west with their first stop being in Ohio. From there they moved to Rock County, Wisconsin, and by 1844 had added John, Sarah P., Robert and Walter T. to their family. Thomas was born in Wisconsin and then the Inmans decided to move west again, this time stopping near Shell Rock, IA, where Mary J. was born. While living in Iowa, the Civil War broke out and the boys went off to war, serving in the Union Army.

The boys came back from the Civil War describing the countryside they'd traveled through and the family was on the move once again, this time settling in Miami County, Kansas, before the 1870 Census.

Sometime after this date, Walter died and Mary moved to Wright County with her daughter, Sarah who married Walter Secoy (1836-1891). Mary died June 13,1891, and was buried in "Inman Row" in Thomas Cemetery.
