    Death came today to Mrs. I. Inman, who resided a short distance above town on the Humboldt road. She has been suffering from enlargement of the liver, and death was not unexpected. She leaves a husband, four sons and two daughters.

DEATH SUMMONS 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL (1911)

    Ruby Elberta Inman, 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Inman, passed away at her home on Eighth Avenue, Chico Vecino, yesterday morning following a brief illness. The child was a native of Washington and had resided in this city for two years. She was a student in the local public schools.
    Surviving besides the parents are two sisters, Mrs. Roy Kempley of Los Angeles and Nettie E. Inman of Chico. Funeral services will be held in the Westfall parlors Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. W. L. Mellinger officiating. Burial will be in Chico cemetery.

Death of P. L. Kinkle

    P. L. Kinkle died yesterday at his home in Long Valley. He was a native of Indiana, aged 74 years.
    He had been a suffer for some time with rheumatism and paralysis, and death was a relief.
    Deceased had been a resident of Long Valley for 36 years. He was a good man and a splendid citizen. A widow, and two sons, L. O. and W. F. Kinkle, survive, as do also two grandsons and one granddaughter.
    Deceased was a member of both branches of the Odd Fellows and the Rebekahs, and the funeral will be held under the auspices of Auburn Lodge, tomorrow, (Sunday) at 2:30 from Walsh-Keena undertaking parlors.

Death Claims Israel Inman (1937)

    Funeral services for Israel Inman, 87, who died yesterday noon at his home at Humboldt and Forest Avenues, have been set at the Westfall Funeral Home. They will be held Wednesday at 2 o'clock with Rev. L. G. Morony officiating. Burial will be made in Chico Cemetery.
    Deceased was a native of Kansas and while still a small boy crossed the plains in a covered wagon with his parents. He had lived in the Chico district most of his life.
    He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lottie Inman, and the following children: Mrs. Vesta Carr, Oakland; Mrs. Eva Jones, San Francisco; Ray and Hobart Inman, Oroville; Ernest Inman, Port Angeles, Wash.; Mrs. Annie Arnell, Los Angeles; Lewis Inman and Mrs. Kitty O'Dell, Bellflower, Calif.; and Clinton Inman of Washington.
    Three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

Edward E. Inman Succumbs at Parlier
    REEDLEY (Fresno Co.), Sept. 25.
    Edward Everett Inman, 73, a resident of California twenty one years, died last night at his home in the Parlier district, He was born in Missouri.
    Surviving him are his widow Mrs. Rosey Inman of Parlier, a son John Inman of Roscoe, four daughters, Mrs. Earnest Johns of Parlier, Mrs. Ivan Cundiff of Venice, Mrs. Lola May Perry of Huron, and Mrs. Maude Kensen of Sultana, a sister in Missouri, seventeen grandchildren and a great grandchild.
    The funeral will be tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Cairns Funeral Parlor here with the Rev. S. M. Cheek of the Parlier Methodist Church officiating and burial in the Mendocino Cemetery.

    Charles Thomas Inman, 57, loving husband of Christina M. Inman, 935½ K Street, Mojave, passed away at his home March 10. Born January 10, 1891 in Kirwin, Kan., he is survived by his wife and two sons, Paul, and Alfred of Mojave; two brothers Warren R. of Whittier, Calif. and Elmer of Kootenai, Ida.; two sisters, Mrs. Alta G. Richardson of Norwalk, Calif., Alice Eckerle of Los Angeles; Julia Lehr and a brother, Ira, of. Bennett, Colo., Mae Dorr of Alliance, Neb. and three children by a previous marriage residing in Colorado.
    Funeral services and interment were conducted at Inglewood Park Cemetery under the direction of O'Donnell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robinson of the Lutheran Church, Whittier, officiating on Saturday last.
    Mr. Inman was a stonemason by trade and a veteran of World War 1. He had been on the retired list for the past 15 years because of a heart ailment. Mrs. Inman is an employee of the Adobe Motel, Mojave.

Former Chico Woman Dies

    Mrs. Vesta Smith, former resident of Chico, died at her home in Huntington Park Sunday.
    Mrs. Smith was born in Kansas and came to California in 1896 where she attended the Diamondville School which was then located near the site of the covered bridge on Butte Creek. In 1904 she and Martin Smith were married and continued making Chico their home until 1920 when she moved to Oakland for two years prior to moving to Huntington Park where she had since resided.
    Survivors include her son Lon Smith of Oakland, three brothers, Ray Inman of Chico and Robert and Ernest Inman of Oroville, and three sisters, Mrs. Eva Jones of Bell, Calif.; Mrs. Annie Arnell of Los Angeles and Mrs. Kettie Odell of Bellflower, Calif.
    Funeral arrangements are being completed at the B????? Funeral Home and will be announced later.

    Services for Mrs. Lillian A. Inman, 73, of 1197 North Avenue, Del Paso Heights, were held today in the George L. Klumpp funeral home. She was buried in the East Lawn Cemetery.
    A native of Nevada, she died Friday in a hospital. She had lived in this area 17 years and was active in the Salvation Army.

    Mrs. Augusta Inman, 89, of 835 J Street, died late Tuesday morning following a lengthy illness. She was born in Eureka on Dec. 12, 1865, and lived here all her life. She was the wife of the late Jesse Leon Inman.
    She is survived by three daughters, Miss Fern B. Inman, Mrs. Bruce Heckman, both of Eureka, and Mrs. Eleanor Davis, Oakland: a sister, Mrs. Amelia Carson, and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Ohman Smith, both of Eureka; also a grandson, Charles Leon Davis, Eureka.

Eva Jones

    Graveside services will be held in the Chico Cemetery tomorrow at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Eva Jones, a former resident of Chico, who died Wednesday in Lynwood, where she had made her home for about 20 years.
    She was born in Chico Feb. 24, 1898 to Israel and Annie Inman, was reared and married here and later widowed.
    Surviving are a son, Charles Goodman of Burlingame, Mrs. Annie Arnell of Long Beach, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
    Rev. Wilder Immel, assistant pastor of the First Christian Church, will officiate at the committal service.
    Timmons-Van Hook Funeral Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.

   Inman, a native of Benton, Ark., died Saturday in a Sacramento hospital. He was a former resident of Forbestown.

    Mrs. Borchardt, a native of Chicago, lived in the county 29 years. She had been a commercial artist for the Coffman and Fabray Co. Survivors include a son, Edward, and a son-in-law, Douglas L. Inman, both of San Diego; and two grandsons.

    Lillian Larsen, the teacher for whom San Miguel's elementary school was named, died this morning in Santa Cruz at the age of 78. Mrs. Larsen was born Feb. 24, 1893, and at the age of 18 she was teaching school at the Stone Canyon Coal Mine outside of San Miguel.
    She was married to Ludwig Larsen in November of 1913, and the couple remained in San Miguel until 1956. Mr. Larsen died in September of 1967.
    Mrs. Larsen is survived by her son Mervil Larsen of Newcastle, daughters Pearl Scott of Oakland and Mrs. Gerald Ellis of Richmond, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
    Funeral arrangements are being made through White's Mortuary in Santa Cruz, and funeral is tentatively set for Monday.

    Mrs. Larsen, a teacher at Mission Hill Jr. High School from 1954 to 1958, died Friday in a local hospital following a long illness.
    A native of South Dakota, she moved to the Aromas and Hollister area where she was graduated from Hollister High School. She was a teacher for more than 40 years, 30 of them in San Miguel. Her first position was at Stone Canyon Coal Mine near San Miguel.
    She moved to Santa Cruz in 1954, and returned to San Miguel briefly for ceremonies dedicating the Lillian Larsen Grammar School in 1955.
    She taught at Mission Hill until her retirement in 1958.
    Mrs. Larsen was a 50-year member of Violet Chapter 102, Order of Eastern Star, San Miguel; the War Mothers and Grandmothers, Santa Cruz; the Rebekah Lodge, San Miguel; and the Retired Teachers Association of Santa Cruz.
    She is survived by a son, Mervil Larsen of Newcastle; a daughter, Louise Ellis, Richmond; and a sister, Pearl Scott of Oakland. She also leaves seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Agnes I. Inman

    Agnes I. Inman, 74, who retired 30 years ago as a secretary for the state Department of Agriculture, died Tuesday (Dec. 27, 1986).
Mrs. Inman, a homemaker, was born in Texas.
    She was the wife of Clyde Inman and sister of Conley Sanders.

Glenn R. Inman, state police officer

    Glenn R. Inman, 36 a State Police officer for 15 years, died Saturday (Jan 14) of a heart attack.
    "He was a fine young man, with a great future in law-enforcement," said Virgil Moslander, deputy chief of the State Police. "He was extremely well-liked and will
be missed."
    A native of Sacramento, Lt. Inman had served in the state executive protection agency in Sacramento until his transfer to Los Angles a month ago.
    He is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn; children Brendon Michael and Joshua Scott Inman; brother Kirk Lane Inman; parents, Ray and Maxine Inman; and
grandmother Mabel Trusedall.

    Memorial services for North Highlands resident Ruth A. Inman, a garden club leader and a volunteer worker for the Boy Scouts, will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Senior Citizens Community Center, 4701 Gibbons Drive, Carmichael.

    A leader in the North Highlands Garden club for 20 years, Mrs. Inman was a member of the River Valley District of the California State Garden Clubs, the Sacramento Arrangers Guild and the Capitol Flower/Art Designers.
    She received the Silver Bear and Silver Beaver awards for her volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America. The North Highlands Chamber of Commerce voted her the 1970 Citizen of the Year. She was a life member of the Parent-Teacher Association.
    Mrs. Inman was assistant secretary-treasurer of the Graphics Arts Credit Union for 10 years.
    She was a native of Wisconsin.
    Surviving are her husband, Gerald; son, Michael of Sacramento; sister, Shirley Yokoyama of Carmichael; and brothers, Robert Hodge of Alabama, Phillip  Hodge of Texas and Donald Hodge of Foothill Farms.

    Funeral services for retired accountant Ray Walter Inman will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Andrew & Greilich Chapel 3939 Fruitridge Road. Burial will be at the South East Lawn Memorial Park.
    Mr. Inman died of a heart attack Sunday at age 65.
    He had worked as an accountant for the State of California for 38 years. He joined the state in the Department of Agriculture and later worked at the Department
of General Services for about 10 years before retiring in 1984.
    Born in Chico, Mr. Inman was a graduate of Oroville High School and served in the Marines during World War II. He settled in Sacramento in 1945.

    Wes Farrell, a music executive and songwriter whose four-decade career included the hit pop song "Hang On Sloopy" and the music for the television series "The Partridge Family," died Thursday at a resort on Fisher Island, Fla. He was 56 and lived in Coconut Grove, Fla.
    The cause was cancer, said his wife, Jean Inman Farrell.
    Mr. Farrell was born in New York City. He entered the music business as a songwriter at the Brill Building in Manhattan, writing scores of songs before his first big hit, "Hang On Sloopy" (recorded by the McCoys in 1965).
    Several other songs he wrote became top-10 singles, including "Come a Little Bit Closer" (recorded by Jay and the Americans in 1964) and "Come On Down to My Boat" (recorded by Every Mother's Son in 1967). He also wrote "Boys," which the Beatles recorded in 1963 on their first American album.
    Mr. Farrell signed Neil Diamond to his first publishing deal and produced music for the Cowsills, the Everly Brothers and Wayne Newton. He formed his own record company, Chelsea, to release Newton's first top-10 hit, "Daddy, Don't You Walk So Fast."
    In the 1970s, he created the music for "The Partridge Family."
    Most recently, Mr. Farrell was the chief executive and president of Music Entertainment Group, an umbrella for several music organizations, including one of the country's largest Christian music companies, the Benson Music Group.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Fay DePasquale Goldberg of Miami; a son, Wesley, and a daughter, Sky, both of Coconut Grove; and another daughter, Dawn, of Santa Fe, N.M.

Beatriz Arce Cawley

    Passed away August 9th peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Beatriz was born in San Francisco on October 2, 1924. She attended St. Brigid's School for elementary and high school, and went to work for the California Division of Highways upon graduation. She married Bob Cawley, her husband of 54 years, on September 20th, 1947 and began their family of five children. In 1956 they moved to Marinwood, where they lived for the rest of their lives. Beatriz returned to school during the 1970's attending College of Marin and U.C. Berkeley to earn a B.A. in Philosophy and Social Science, and San Francisco State to earn a Master's in Social Work. Beatriz loved to travel. She and Bob journeyed to locations in Africa, Asia, Australia, Central and South America, and Europe in addition to several cities in the U.S. and Canada. In May, they enjoyed a cruise to view glaciers in Alaska. For all her travels, Beatriz's favorite places on earth were her beloved San Francisco and Marin County open spaces. She walked across the Golden Gate Bridge on the day it opened in 1936 and in 1986 when it celebrated 50 years of existence. Beatriz loved life and the myriad ways to enjoy it. She was an avid reader and appreciated the arts. Always a strong swimmer, Beatriz especially loved swimming in rivers and lakes. Few of her companions could swim with as much confidence and endurance as she did. She also enjoyed bicycling and hiking. In 1995, she took up kayaking and her enthusiasm drew her daughters and granddaughters into the sport with her. Many fond memories were made paddling through the waves of San Pablo Bay and hiking on Marin County trails. Nothing was more important to Beatriz than family. Her children and grandchildren will always consider themselves blessed for the unconditional love and positive example she gave them, and for the appreciation of family she instilled in them. Beatriz was preceded in death by her beloved parents Forunato and Enriqueta Arce, and brother Rafael Arce. Her devoted husband Bob passed just eight weeks before she did. Beatriz is survived by her caring sister and brother, Sara Allan of Napa and Alfred Arce of San Carlos; her loving children Linda Danielson (Joe), Cecilia Cawley-Redman, Robert Cawley, Maryann Mason (Steve), and Susan Inman (Dave); her adored grandchildren Elizabeth Falk (Pete), Isela Redman, Kristina Danielson, Kathleen Danielson, and James Mason; and dear step-grandchildren Jason and Monica Inman. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as many, many neighbors and friends will miss her loving and vivacious spirit.     Mrs. Wells was a past matron of Queen Elizabeth Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and was active in voter registration in Riverside.
    She enjoyed baking, shopping and traveling.
    Mrs. Wells is survived by her husband, Reuben Sr.; two daughters, Janester Short of Arcadia and Marian Wells-Munerlyn of Corona; a son, Reuben Jr. of Highland; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Charles Adams of Los Angeles, Sam Adams of San Antonio, Texas, Robert Adams of Luling, and her twin, Clyde Adams of Las Vegas, Nev.; and four sisters, Willie Inman and Geneva Miller, both of Seguin, Texas, and Shirley Harris and Carrie Antwine, both of San Antonio.

    Services for Edward Michael Eazor, 73, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Mortuary in Riverside. He died Thursday from complications of Alzheimer's disease at Life Care Center in Corona.
    Friends may call from 1 until 5 p.m. today and from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
    Burial will be in Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park in Riverside.
    Mr. Eazor, who was born in Beaver Falls, Pa., lived in Riverside 30 years. He worked as a plant superintendent for Prudential Overall Supply in Riverside for 23 years before retiring in 1989.
    He was a member of the Palm Baptist Church in Riverside.
    Mr. Eazor enjoyed metal art, fishing and woodworking.
    He is survived by his wife, Grace; two daughters, Barbara Vernon and Bette Kline, both of Riverside; a son, Bob of Riverside; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Chuck of Warren, Ohio, Jim and Dick, both of Meadville, Pa.; and a sister, Betty Inman of New Brighton, Pa.

    Former Perris Councilman and Mayor Robert Fletcher, 65, died at home Friday of cancer. He was born on June 29, 1932, in Dows, Iowa. He was raised in Peoria, Ill. Fletcher attended Bradley University in Illinois where he majored in anatomy and physiology. He served in the army from 1952 to 1956, moved to Perris in 1982 and retired from Beckman Scientific Instruments four years later. Fletcher served on the City Council from 1991-1995 and as mayor in 1993 and 1995. He was also the first chairman of the March Joint Powers Authority and helped coordinate development efforts between the city and the Air Force base, said the Rev. Quinn Hawley who will be conducting Fletcher's memorial service. "He was one of the people who was extremely instrumental in making this (the Joint Powers Authority) work amongst the communities," Hawley said. "Because of Bob's mild manner and non-contentious attitude our Joint Powers was able to transition into a really functioning, cooperative group," said Perris City Councilman Ascension "Sam" Torres who worked with Fletcher. The councilman also was helpful when Perris faced financial difficulties, Torres said. "I think Bob was very underestimated politically in a lot of ways because he was very quiet," Torres said. "I just can't help but think how much worse things would have been if Bob wasn't around." Fletcher was active in a number of civic organizations including the Perris Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Friends say Fletcher's hobby was restoring antique cars and making kit cars. Fletcher is survived by his wife, Billie; two sons, Stephen of Perris and Michael of Costa Mesa; a daughter, Rebecca Fletcher of Kent, Wash.; two step-children, Byron and B. J. Inman, both of Perris; and a grandchild. A memorial service, officiated by the Rev. Hawley, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Congregational Church in Perris. After cremation, there will be a private service at the National Cemetery.

Billie Wayne Inman

    Billie Wayne Inman, 64, of Galt, died March 21 in a Sacramento hospital after a long illness. He was born on July 19, 1934, in Buffalo Springs, Texas, and has lived in the Galt area for the last 40 years.

    INMAN, Edward Hamilton age 86, died peacefully in his sleep in Santa Barbara,
California on February 9, 1999 after a long and valiant attempt to overcome lung cancer. He was a thirty year resident of Naples, Florida, but spent his summers in Santa Barbara, California.
    He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on April 20, 1912; the son of Emily MacDougald and Edward Inman. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1934 with a major in commerce. He was a member of Chi Phi fraternity.
    He then went to work for the Coca Cola Company until 1941 when he was called to active duty in the Naval Reserves. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He served five years in the South Pacific on a destroyer and was discharged as a Lt Commander in 1945. After the war he, along with his mother and brother, Hugh, purchased the Coca Cola Bottling Plant in Hilo, Hawaii.
    He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Nancy Brown Inman, his two daughters, Laurel Inman and April Warren, and her husband James; his step-daughter Alice I. Jones and her husband Robert. He also leaves five grandchildren Robin Rainsford Warren, Edward Inman Warren, Andrew Thomas Jones, Carole Anne Jones and Nancy Starr Jones. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Barbara Rainsford in 1964 and his second wife Sue Bradley in 1969. Other survivors include his niece Mildred T Bryant, his nephew Samuel C Inman and his cousin Louis Richardson Allen.
    He was a member of the Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta since 1933 and the Royal Poinciana Club of Naples since 1972.
    The will be a graveside service honoring his memory on February 15, at 2:00 p m at the Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia. The Reverend George Worth of the First Presbyterian Church will preside.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Atlanta History Center or the charity of your choice. HM Patterson and Son, Springhill, is handling arrangements.

    A resident of Fresno, passed away February 7, 2000 at the age of 78. She was a loving home maker and a hostess for Weinstocks restaurant for 15 years before her retirement. Alene enjoyed 30 years of bowling. 
    Alene was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Ralph S.     Ira Lee Inman, age 92, died 3:05 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2000 at St. John's Regional Medical Center.
    Born September 14, 1907 in Jamestown, AR, he was the son of John Lee Inman and Leah Auten Inman and lived in Joplin over 60 years, moving from Arkansas. He lived with his granddaughter, Margie Boyd at 1622 S. Joplin Ave. since 1992.
    He was a truck driver of Inman trucking and an auto mechanic for the former Pflug Auto at 7th & Wall. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II he held the rank of Seaman, Second Class.     He was a member of the Full Gospel Church at 20th & Michigan.
    His wife, Ethel Sutherland Inman, preceded him in death on February 23, 1972. A son, Billy Inman, preceded him in death in February of 1972.
    Survivors include a son, Johnnie Inman of Springfield, MO; three daughters, Mary Day and Margaret Fadling, both of Joplin, Peggy Franklin of California; a sister, Sylvia Odum of Barling, AR; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

    Albert Guy Meyers II, 73, passed away on Friday at a Napa hospital. He was a native of Vallejo, born to Albert G. and Ruth (Inman) Meyers on May 26, 1927.
    He was a member of the Vallejo Elks Club and the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America.
    Albert is survived by his son, Albert Guy Meyers III of Napa; his daughter, Mary Meyers of Oceanside; his aunt, Charlotte Inman of Napa; and two grandchildren.

Bert D. Inman, 100

    Bert D. Inman died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Durham on Tuesday, Oct. 31, (2000), at the age of 100. He was born  July 19, 1900, on an Indian reservation near Demming, Wash. He had recently moved from Graeagle, where he had resided since 1979, to Durham. Bert grew up in the Livermore area and played basketball in high school. At the age of 15, he lied about his age and enlisted in Company 1, 5th Infantry Regiment of the National Guard and was posted to the Mexican border in the conflict with Pancho Villa. At the age of 17 he was stationed in France during World War I in June 1917 as a PFC. He attended Purdue University in Indiana. Bert was retired from Westinghouse Electric where he was manager of the Engineering and Service Department for 45 years. He was a member of numerous civic and fraternal organizations. He was a member of E Clampus Vitas, a Scottish Rite Mason for 55 years, and a 54 year member of the Shriners. He was twice Exalted Ruler for the Calpine Lodge of the Elks, and was the oldest Exalted Ruler ever installed at the time. As a member of the Calpine Elks, Bert was responsible for initiating a program for elementary school students. This involved an essay contest based on "What the American Flag Means to You." Recognition was given to the children in the form of savings bonds. At the age of 98 he was installed as the Commander of Feather River Post 2062 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bert was a life-long volunteer for the Republican Party. He served as the Chairman of the Republican Party Central Committee in both Marin and Plumas counties. In 1994 he was the Volunteer of the Year for the California Republican Party. He devoted his time to increasing Republican voter registration. After his retirement he also assisted in census enumeration in Marin and Plumas Counties. His growing family was a great source of pride to Bert. He always looked forward to family gatherings that started with camping on the Eel River in the 1950's to family reunions at his Graeagle home. He was an avid reader, loved to fish, collect rocks, gamble in Reno, and especially loved making his famous Tom and Jerrys on Christmas Eve. Bert leaves his wife, Amy, of 54 years; three children, Donna of Soquel, Cynthia of Durham, and Lynn of Woodland; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grand children. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, two sisters and one son. A private family service is planned at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico. A celebration of his life will be held at Calpine Elk's Lodge Saturday, Nov. 11, at 1:30 p.m.

    Woodrow "Woody" Wilson Carter, 87, of Marysville died Feb. 2, 2001, at his residence. 
    Born in Agra, Okla., he was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 48 years. He was a log truck owner/operator. He was also a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Cherokees of California. 
    Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Anna Mae Carter of Marysville; four daughters, Mary Martin of Marysville, Holly Johnson of Sacramento, Janice "Tukey" Seagraves of Boulder Creek and Marcheta Resch of Independence, Mo.; two sisters, Alene Hedger of Walnut Creek and Rozetta Inman of Carmichael; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

    NORTH FORK — Ruth Valentine Dennis Inman, who celebrated her 101st birthday earlier this year, died on April 13 (2001) in Fresno. 
    Services were held Thursday. Burial was in the North Fork Cemetery. 
    Mrs. Inman was born on February 14, 1900, in Carthage, Missouri, where she grew up. 
    Just as she had been a Valentine baby, so also she was a Valentine bride when she married Roy Edgar Inman on February 14, 1925. They had four children. Her youngest, Dennis, died as a child in a drowning accident. 
    She spent most of her adult life in Colorado and California. She lived in Southern California for almost 60 years before moving to North Fork four years ago to live with her daughter Rosemary. 
    Mrs. Inman was a widow for more than 40 years. 
    Her interests centered around her home. She loved her garden and could often be found greeting her neighbors from there. 
    The nurture of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was always a  top priority. 
    Her love of animals was displayed in the care of her cats and other cats that stopped by for her attention. In recent years a favorite pastime was watching the deer and birds that came to feed in the backyard. 
    Mrs. Inman was also an amateur painter. 
    She is survived by her children Bill Inman (wife June), Rosemary Curry (husband Herb), and Dolores Macomber (husband Perry). 
    She also leaves her grandchildren Maureen Walling (husband Steve), Michael Inman (wife Claire), Patrick Inman, and Kathleen Pierce (husband Mark). 
    Mrs. Inman was great-grandmother to Jessica Knotts, Moody Knotts, Price Walling, Justin Curry, Jordan Curry, Alexandra Pierce, and Michael Pierce.

    Harry Edward Dailey Sr., 74, a former Quincy resident, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002. Dailey was born July 13, 1927, in Beach, N.D., the son of Edward and Florence (Percell) Dailey. He received his education in Quincy, living there until 1967 when he moved to Forest Grove, Ore. He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 22, 1945 to Feb. 28, 1947. He married Lea Ola Jennings Sept. 18, 1970, in Vancouver, Wash. Dailey had worked as a cabinet maker. The family lived in Banks, Ore., until he retired from Rodgers Instruments LLC in 1989. He and his wife then spent 12 years traveling the U.S. with their fifth-wheel trailer. Dailey was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, jokes and taking care of his family. Dailey was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Gonza; and granddaughter, Sommer Dailey.     Archibald "Archie" Scott Inman, passed away on March 12, 2003, after a long, valiant fight, age 76. A native of Edinburgh, Scotland, he moved to Gilroy 10 years ago from Sunnyvale and then to Morgan Hill in January 2003.
    He worked as an AC/DC motor electrician on Navy and cruise ships in the San Francisco Bay Area for 22 years. He was a member of the Pigeon Club in Morgan Hill and Sunnyvale.
    He was the beloved sweetheart, husband, love and friend of Julia L. L. Inman of Morgan Hill and formerly of Gilroy. He also is survived by many relatives in Southern California.
    Services were held on March 17th, at Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy. Burial at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.

    Mrs. Marjorie H. Inman passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002 at Woodland Memorial Hospital in Woodland. Born on July 29, 1923 in Galena, Kansas, she was 79 years old.

    IDAHO Mark Alan Inman of Deary, Idaho was killed in an automobile accident on August 1, in Kooskie, Idaho. He was 41 years old.
    Mark was born in Fresno on December 12, 1961 to Sharky and Kathleen Inman. He was the grandson to Butch Inman of ONeals who died several years ago. Mark moved to Idaho about 15 years ago and became a logger, working all over the Northwest and Alaska.
    Survivors include sons Jacob, Austin, and Chance; his father Sharky Inman of Arizona; his mother, Kathy Inman of Washington; his brother Bryan; his wife Dina and two their two daughters all from Kendrick, Idaho. Stepmother, Mary of Arizona and his grandmothers Dorothy Norman of Arizona and Anne Commeau of Hayward; and step-grandfather Bob Norman. He leaves behind many cousins, aunts and uncles.
    Cremation and memorial services took place in Idaho.

    Mary Jane Inman, age 98, of Tulare passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004.
    She was born to Charles and Anna Ellis on Dec. 13, 1905 in Durant, Okla., where she was raised and educated. She married William H. Simmons in 1923. He preceded her in death. She moved to California in 1941, settling in Tulare. In 1946, she married Bill Inman. He preceded her in death. She moved to Merced in 1951, where she was a cook for Mercy Hospital in the nutrition department, until 1961, when she moved to Morgan Hill, where she was a cook for Santa Clara County Boy's Ranch, retiring in 1969. She moved to Grover Beach that same year, residing there until 1978, when she moved to Washington State, where she lived until returning to Tulare in 1990.
    Mary enjoyed volunteering and with the ability to plan meals and cook, she volunteered for many years at an orphanage in Chino, as summer relief for the vacationing personnel. She also enjoyed volunteering at her church, Bible school and Bible camp, where again, you could find her planning meals and cooking for the campers. Her hobbies were cooking, canning and sewing.
    She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Joyce Edwards in 1991 and Mary Ball in 2003.
    Survivors include two sons, Dale Simmons and Harvey Simmons, both of Visalia; a daughter, Elois Wiley of Visalia; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
    Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mid-Valley Church of Christ, 358 North E St., with burial at Tulare District Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Goble-Miller Funeral Chapel.

David Dale Inman 

    Passed away at home on Saturday, February 28, surrounded by his lover of 45 years, Gene Webster, loving friends and animals. A tireless volunteer and outspoken advocate of equal rights for gay people, David was instrumental in expanding the reach of Project Angel Food to bring hot meals to homebound people with HIV/AIDS to the neighborhoods of Northeast L.A. and Glendale. For the last decade he facilitated a support group for HIV positive people in Silver Lake. In 1996 David was recognized for his volunteer work and selected to carry the Olympic Torch through Los Angeles on its way to Atlanta. For many years David was employed as a district supervisor at Coronet Variety Stores and later as a sales rep for the Intercraft Company. Born January 20, 1935 in Zanesville, Ohio, David is preceded in death by his mother, Katie Pierce Inman; father, Roy; and brothers Harold (Pete), Leroy, and Murl; and sisters, Hazel, Louise, Ruth and Laura. In addition to Mr. Webster, David is survived by a brother, Stanley Todd Inman and a sister, Iva Lee Miller of Zanesville, OH.

Marcella B. Lytle

    Marcella B. Lytle, 84, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, went to be with her Lord on April 5, 2004.
Marcella was born in McCracken, Mo., on June 1, 1919. She lived most of her life in Texas City and Manvel, Texas. For the past two years she resided in Camarillo with her son and his wife.
    Marcella dedicated her life to serving others and in this service she cared for over 400 foster children while living in Texas.

    Marcella is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Harold and Judith Ann Lytle; grandchildren Lori Carroll and her husband Christopher, Tracy Lytle and his wife Peggy, and Damon Lytle; daughter-in-law Linda Lytle; grandchildren David Matthew Blomstrom, Edward Sterling Lytle and his wife Rhonda, Clair Inman, Jennifer Williams and her husband Ralph, Dawn Blomstrom, and Lindsey Lytle; great-grandchildren, Cassy, Lauren, Nathan, Jason, Allison, Matthew, Andrew, Stephany, Thomas, Ryan, Savannah and Lauren; sisters, Marjorie McDougal and her husband Clifton, Louise Lockhart and Phyllis Jean Bergeron; and brother, Glen D.     Mrs. Lorraine Tune-Hartley passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2004, at the age of 47. She was a native and life long resident of Madera. Lorraine worked as an office manager for Teco for 20 years. She was a member of St. Annes Catholic Church in Raymond and of the La Sierra Guild.
    She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Marion Tune and her brother Mike Tune.
    She is survived by her husband Norm Hartley of Madera, her son William Inman of Madera, her step-son Bryan Hartley of Madera, her brother David Tune of Madera and her life long friend Pam Tune of Madera, as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Tommy Aubrey Lewis

    A private memorial service for longtime former Vacaville resident, Tommy Aubrey Lewis will be 4 p.m. Saturday at the Purple Pearl Vineyard in Dixon. Mr. Lewis passed away in his Lake Havasu City home April 8, 2004, following a long illness.
    Mr. Lewis had been a Solano County resident since 1968 prior to moving to Lake Havasu City in 1996. Mr. Lewis and his wife, Maxine, owned a small ranch in north Vacaville for many years. He was an electronics engineer at Mare Island from 1965 to 1985.
    Mr. Lewis joined the U.S. Navy at age 19 and served in the Korean War. He and wife Maxine, were married during this time; she was 16. The couple had three daughters. After leaving the Navy, Mr. Lewis worked on his career and education. While working as an engineer, he and his wife also farmed a 36-acre ranch.
    Mr. Lewis loved his boat and enjoyed fishing. His family said that he led a full life and will always be loved and remembered by his friends and family.
    He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Lake Havasu City; daughters, Brenda Inman of Vacaville, Elizabeth Fry of Vacaville and Wanda Yates of Seattle; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, David Lewis of Stonyford; sister, Marinell Harriman of Alameda; and nine nieces and nephews.
    An earlier service took place in Lake Havasu City.

Dorothy Ilene Tingley April 18, 1909 - May 21, 2004

    Dorothy Ilene (Inman) Tingley, died in Woodland, CA on Friday, May 21, 2004 at age 95. She was born April 18, 1909 in Oolitic, Indiana. She married Robert Tingley in Colorado Springs in 1930. They moved to California in 1935 and back to Colorado in 1969. Following retirement, the Tingleys returned to California to live in Stockton, Davis and Woodland. While in Stockton, she was a member of Central Methodist Church and Lincoln Presbyterian and a member of the FS Chapter of PEO.
    Mrs. Tingley is survived by her children and their spouses, Carol and Hal Sconyers of Davis, Don and Margaret Tingley of Woodland and Bill and Sally Tingley of Pasadena. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, sister, Bette Freeman of Chico and brother, Robert Inman of Denver. Her husband of 66 years, Robert James Tingley I, died in 1996.

    Mrs. Inman was a native of Kentucky and lived in Modesto 44 years. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.

    Jack H. Inman, 75, of Salinas, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
    He was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Morristown, Tenn. He was a pioneer in satellite communications and started his own satellite communications career tracking the Pioneer satellite in 1957, and during the war in Vietnam, where he established the first strategic satellite communications station in 1964. His motto in that combat zone was "have station, will travel." He also contributed 19 years to commercial satellite communications with Comsat Corp. as the station manager in Carmel. He was a dedicated family man who will be dearly missed by all.
    Military service: Mr. Inman retired from 20 years in the U.S. Army to Salinas in 1967.
    Memberships: He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5266 in Morristown.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Mollie and Ralph Inman, and sisters, Jenna Lee Hendrick and Helen McDonald.

    JANE M. HART Jane M. Hart was born on October 10, 1919, in Paisley, Scotland, to Joseph and Margaret Malcolm. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1920. She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, with her sister Mary. She moved to California in 1960. Jane passed away peacefully Sunday, August 8, 2004, in Modesto, Calif. She is survived by her children, George Fetzer and his wife, Maricruz, of Union City, Calif, Margaret Inman and her husband, J.C., of Earlsboro, Okla., Marlyn Burk and her husband, Milton, of Folsom, Calif., and her stepdaughters, Dianne Bennett of Huson, Mont., Andrea Henderson of Port Orchard, Wash., and Marsha Hart of Scottsdale, Ariz. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.     Emmitt Johnson Burris, 86, of Ceres died Saturday at his home.
    Mr. Burris was a native of Oklahoma. He had lived in Ceres since 1977, and formerly lived in Chowchilla, Waterford and Turlock. He was a sanitation worker. He was a member of Holy Ground Ministries in Turlock. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
    He is survived by his children, Mary Lou Inman, Jess Lee Burris, Emmitt Burris and Gracie Young, all of Ceres, Stanley Copeland of Kerman and Mary Joyce Copeland of North Carolina; and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

At Mercy General Hospital on September 21, 2004, with his family at his side, Gary Inman passed away after a long fight with heart complications. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy. He is survived by his father Fred Inman, brother Fred Inman and sister-in-law Beverly, sister Mary Ellen Moore, and Marjorie Jean Grier and husband Bill, plus many nieces and nephews. Also survived by his loving mother-in-law, Hazel Shellhorn, and brother-in-law, Charles Bennett. He leaves behind extended family Renee, Jeff, and John Duncan. Many special friends will remember Gary's life as a member of the Elk Grove Congregational Church. For many years he served on the Board of Deacons, the Board of Trustees, and the Search Committee at the Elk Grove Congregational Church - United Church of Christ. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Shriner's Children's Hospital of Sacramento. The family sends their deepest gratitude for all of the support from the community.     MARY LOUISE (BOCANEGRA) FLORES 79, a lifelong resident of San Bernardino passed away on Wednesday October 6, 2004. She retired as a Counselor at Juvenile Hall after 25 years of service. An important part of her life was her membership in the Catholic Church. She attended and supported Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Ann's and St. Anthony's parishes. She was also a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West. Recently she was a member of the Senior Advisory Committee at the Hutton Center in Colton. Survived by a son, Frank William Flores of San Bernardino. Four daughters, Penney Inderweische of Redlands, Carole Giddings Inman of Redlands, Fudge Skipper of San Bernardino and Mary Louise (LuLu) Des Portes of Tucson. Nine grandchildren, Matthew Inderweische, Larry Spargo, Gary Giddings, Stephanie Inderwiesche, Teddy Skipper, Jason Flores, Sean Des Portes, Zack Skipper, Karlyne Flores, Aaron Inman; and eight great-grandchildren.     Passed away on Fri., Dec. 10, 2004, in Carmichael, CA. He was born to Andrew Jackson Inman and Ethel Wilson Inman on March 7, 1908, in Liberty Hill, Texas. He came to California at age 26 and married Agnes Sanders. She preceded him in death after 50 years. He married Virginia Ulrich on May 12, 1991. This marriage lasted 8 years and she preceded him in death. He was self employed in the early years and later was retired from the State of Calif. He was a wonderful son, husband and uncle. He was a Christian and a Baptist. He was one of a family of 7 children, 4 brothers and 2 sisters, all including his parents preceded him in death. He was the last member of his family to go. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Helen Sanders of Carmichael. Loving nieces and nephews, Laverne Saverance of Kermit, TX, Barbara Ferrell of Boseman, MT, Myrna Skiff of Folsom, Bob Humphries of Austin, TX, Olin Humpries of Houston, TX, Jack Inman of Elko, NV, Richard Sanders of Sunland, Ronald Sanders of Placerville, Jim Wolf of Sacramento and a host of great-nieces and nephews. Man shot, killed on Wilson Way while riding scooter

    STOCKTON -- A Stockton man riding a motorized scooter died after being gunned down at midday Wednesday in front of a North Wilson Way apartment complex. 
    The victim, Marcus John Inman, 33, of Stockton was shot in the back, said his aunt Stella Hernandez. 
    The San Joaquin Sheriff's Office would not release the victim's name but said he was shot at 12:28 p.m. at the entrance of P&M Apartments. Staff at St. Joseph's Medical Center later pronounced Inman dead, said Deputy Nelida Stone, a spokeswoman for the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office. 
    Investigators have identified two suspects but released no names and made no arrests Wednesday. The two assailants left the area in a 1990s green or teal Ford
Thunderbird, Stone said. 
    About an hour before the shooting, Inman had been involved in a disturbance with the two men at a trailer park at Mistletoe and Belvedere avenues. Inman was shot a few blocks away at 3161 N. Wilson Way, said Stone, who would not say what led to the shooting. 
    Crime-scene tape encircled a pile of clothes and a pair of black tennis shoes that sat near the road where Inman was shot. A motorized scooter lay on its side next to Wilson Way as traffic drove around flares and patrol cars in the road. 
    "We heard four shots -- boom, boom, boom, boom," said Timmy Nguyen, visiting P.K.T. Market, his brother's business next to the shooting scene. 
    "We came outside and saw the guy laying there." 
    William Francis, manager of P&M Apartments for six years, said he thought he heard firecrackers from inside his office where he was doing paperwork a few feet away.
    Francis looked out the window and saw a man taking careful aim at Inman. 
    "The guy shooting him was trying to kill him," said Francis, who called 911. 
    Francis recognized Inman as a regular along Wilson Way but who didn't live in the apartment complex he manages. He could not describe the two assailants. 
    Stephan Aguilar and his wife were watching a movie in their bedroom at P&M Apartments when the shots rang out. He threw his wife to the floor and covered her with his body, Aguilar said. 
    After hearing a car squeal away, Aguilar and other residents went to Inman's side. Aguilar asked Inman, who couldn't speak, to blink his eyes if he could understand him.
    "He blinked once and went into a coma," Aguilar said. 
    Friends and relatives described Inman as a nice man who lived in a van at different spots along North Wilson Way, where he grew up. 
    "He had his ups and downs like the rest of us," said Lesley Willhite, a longtime acquaintance of Inman. "He was a wonderful kid." 
    Inman had five children between the ages of 6 and 14. 
    Willhite recalled seeing Inman riding his bicycle with an attached trailer in tow. Hernandez, his aunt, said Inman had problems in the past, but he was not involved in gangs and drugs. Recently, Inman had taken an interest in religion. 
    "I just remember him as a good-natured kid," Hernandez said.

    Verna Pauline Inman, 84, of Salinas, Calif., died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at The Ridge, after an illness. Born in Ozark, she had been married for 65 years to her childhood sweetheart, Elijah "Chuck" Inman, and had resided in Salinas for 63 years. She was an avid bingo player. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Dec. 29 at Healey Mortuary Chapel in Salinas, with burial at Garden of Memories Memorial Park, Salinas.

    Victor Finn Sr. died Nov. 26, 2004, in Yucca Valley, where he had lived for four years. He was 51 years old.
    A native of Washington, Mr. Finn was born July 23, 1953, to Walter Donald Finn and Phyllis Close-Matthies.
    He lived in California for 30 years.
    Mr. Finn was a chef for 20 years before he retired.
    A veteran, he belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Joshua Tree.
    His father, Walter Donald Finn, and grandson Gauge Finn preceded him in death.
    He is survived by daughter Maria Finn of Yucca Valley; son and daughter-in-law Victor Finn Jr. and Susan Finn of Joshua Tree; daughter and son-in-law Chrystal Finn and Joe Jordon of Yucca Valley; brother and sister-in-law Micky and Kay Finn and their three children of Santee; brother and sister-in-law Bobby and Sylvia Finn and their two children of Glendora; sister and brother-in-law Candy and Dave Inman and their two children of Everett, Wash.; great-aunt Margaret Close of Yucca Valley; one niece and six nephews.

    Susan Jane Hilgers Inman was born to Ethel (Sharp) and Charles Hilgers in Oroville, CA on February 28, 1919, and died on November 8, 2005 at her home in Los Molinos, CA.
    Susan attended Union Elementary School, a one-room school south of Oroville. She graduated from Oroville Union High School in 1938 and married William "Bill" A. Inman on June 12, 1940.
    She is survived by her husband Bill, of 65 years; her son and daughter-in-law Richard and Sue Inman of Central Point, OR; her daughters and sons-in-law Coralee Inman Lindauer and Michael of Red Bluff; Colette Inman Bauer and Chris of Los Molinos; as well as nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
    Graveside services will be held Monday, November 14 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oroville where she will be laid to rest next to her son, William Charles Inman.

James Thomas Inman 1914 - 2006

    Services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd., Saturday, January 21st, at 10:00 a.m. for James Thomas Inman, 91 of Bakersfield, who passed away January 14, 2006 at his home. Father Craig Harrison will officiate and interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Jim was born in Sherman, Texas on April 24, 1914. In his younger years he was a true cowboy, worked in shipyards during the war, as he was injured on an Indian motorcycle (his other love) and could not join the war efforts. He settled in California, where he met his devoted wife, Dolly, of 68 years. They resided in Bakersfield most of his life, where he applied his skills as a plumber/contractor. He built his own home where he and Dolly resided some 60 years with two children, five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was 91 and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial donations be made in memory of Jim and his family to Hoffman Hospice 5300 California Ave., Suite #1 Bakersfield, CA 93309. INMAN, Nile Dean

    Passed away at home in Victor, MT on November 9, 2006. Dean was born in Ripley, OK, August 7, 1931 to Edith and Hubert V. Inman. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Upon discharge, he settled in California, where he met the love of his life, Patricia L. Callison in 1956. They were married 48 years, after a 2 year courtship and settled in Sacramento. They had 2 daughters, Leona and Retha. After working 30 years for Pacific Bell as a Lineman, Line Assigner and Tool Room Manager, Dean retired to Roseville, CA with his wife Pat, until their move to Victor in 1999. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and siblings Allen, Derwood, and Velma Jean Ellington. He leaves his loving wife Pat; daughters Leona Lind of Hamilton, MT and Retha Makris of Folsom, CA; 2 granddaughters, and 1 great grandson. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Robert Anthony Inman

    Photo Robert Anthony Inman Died suddenly on November 20, 2006 in San Francisco. Robert was born in San Francisco in 1931, the son of an internationally known surgeon and academic. He attended Grattan School and Lowell High, achieving the highest honors, working summers as manager of a Santa Clara commercial farm founded by his great-great grandfather in 1852. The farm house is now the Inman-Haeden Museum, in the middle of Silicon Valley. Following graduation from Stanford with distinction (Phi Beta Kappa) in 1952, Bob was awarded back-to-back Fulbright Scholarships. He authored a successful play which was performed by the Kaleidoskoptheater ensemble in Vienna. He traveled extensively throughout Europe, from Norway to Turkey. In the U.S. Army , he served as a linguist and field agent in Intelligence Headquarters (Northern Europe). Upon his discharge, he completed a year of graduate studies at the Free University of Berlin. Inman taught and received his masters degree at the University of Washington, and later as an editor in the President's Office, he began writing his first novel. Subsequently, he lived and worked for many years in Colorado, as an editor, reporter and librarian for the Denver Post. After moving to NYC, he was the editor of all six scientific journals for the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, from 1983 to 1987. His publications included two novels, The Torturer's Horse (1965) and The Blood Endures (1981). He received the O. Henry Prize for a short story, I'll Call You (1981). He published other numerous short stories and articles, and was awaiting publication of a new novel, Delphi, when he died. Inman was recognized in both Who's Who in America and in the World. He was recognized by Men of Achievement in 1992. Robert was amicably divorced from Joan Marshall after 30 years of marriage. They had since remained loving friends. He is survived by his mother, Irene Cootey Inman of Alameda; two sons, Michael Verne Inman, PhD of Healdsburg, Jeffrey Thornton Inman of New Mexico; and two brothers, Richard Haeden Inman of Mariposa, Verne Thomas Inman, PhD of Alameda, and his loving companion, David Wahlberg of Santa Rosa. WILLIAM ALBERT INMAN

    William Albert Inman, much loved father of four, grandfather of nine, great-grandfather of eleven and great-great-grandfather of one, died Nov. 27, 2006, in Red Bluff, Calif. Bill was born to Lillian Smith Inman and William Chester Inman III, on April 15, 1918, in Oroville, Calif. A member of two pioneer families, he was raised on the family farm which is located where highways. 70 and 149 converge.
    Bill graduated from Oroville Union High School in 1936 where he served as Student Body President. Bill married Susan Jane Hilgers June 12, 1940, and began his working career running a service station located on the family property.
    He served in the army in World War II. He later worked for the railroad, in construction, for Currier Brothers Market, and managed a ranch for the Hearst Corporation south of Oroville. He also owned his own farm and managed an office for Mid-Valley Title and Escrow. His final twenty years of work were spent as real estate appraiser for Butte County in California, Jefferson County in Oregon and the Oregon State Department of Veteran's Affairs.
    Bill started the Lone Pine Farm Bureau in Butte County. He was a Scout and 4-H Leader, and was a member of Toast Masters, Ostomey Society, Elks, Kiwanis, and Sons of Norway.
    Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Susan Jane Inman and son William Charles Inman. He is survived by children: Colette Inman Bauer and husband Chris of Los Molinos; Coralee Inman Lindauer and husband Michael of Red Bluff, and Richard Kenneth Inman and wife Sue of Central Point, Oregon. Grand children include Stacy Norhtup, Darcy Bailey, Patricia Lindauer, Eric Lindauer, Kathy Miller, Ricky Inman, Randy Inman, Robyn Englund, and Ryan Inman.
    A Memorial Service will be held at Cone Community United Methodist Church in Los Molinos Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at 11 A.M., followed by a graveside service Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at 2 P.M., at Oroville Memorial Park where he will be laid to rest with his wife and son. Stu Inman, 80; helped assemble Portland's NBA champion team

    Stu Inman, who helped build the Portland Trail Blazers' 1977 NBA championship team, has died of an apparent heart attack. He was 80.
    Inman collapsed Tuesday at his home in Lake Oswego, Ore., and was pronounced dead at a hospital, his son, David, said Wednesday.
    One of the first executives to consider — when preparing for the draft — team chemistry and a player's psychological makeup in addition to his physical talents, Inman picked Bill Walton, Geoff Petrie, Larry Steele, Lloyd Neal, Lionel Hollins, Bobby Gross, Wally Walker and Johnny Davis. He helped sign Dave Twardzik after the American Basketball Assn. folded and selected Maurice Lucas in the ABA dispersal draft of 1976.
    The Trail Blazers began the 1976-77 season with seven new players and a new coach, Jack Ramsay. Since joining the league as an expansion team in 1970, the franchise had not had a winning season. But the young team led by Walton went 49-33 in the regular season, got hot in the playoffs and won Portland's only NBA title.
    Not all of Inman's decisions were winners. In the 1984 NBA draft, he selected Sam Bowie of Kentucky with the second pick, leaving Michael Jordan of North Carolina to the Chicago Bulls at No. 3. (Hakeem Olajuwon was the No. 1 pick of the Houston Rockets.) Bowie was hindered by injuries over his 11-year career, while Jordan went on to become one of the NBA's greatest players.
    "There's stories like that in any sport," Inman said when Jordan retired in 1999. "You can look at any draft, and there's going to be those questions raised."
    Inman set scoring and rebounding records as a player for San Jose State, graduating in 1950. He was drafted by the old Chicago Stags of the NBA but didn't play pro basketball.
    He played for a San Francisco team in American Athletic Union competition and was a high school coach in Fresno for three years.
    In 1953 he was hired to coach at Santa Ana College, then moved to Orange Coast College before returning to San Jose State, where he was coach from 1957 to 1966.
    He joined Portland as chief scout, helped prepare the team for its first draft in 1970, became vice president of player personnel two years later and was general manager from 1981 to 1986. He also compiled a 6-20 record as interim coach in 1971-72.
    After he left the Trail Blazers, he was director of player personnel for the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat. Four years ago he began helping coach basketball at Lake Oswego High School.
    Inman is survived by his wife, Elinor; five children; and 17 grandchildren.

    Born in St. Louis, Missouri and raised in Santa Clara, CA, David traveled to and experienced many parts of the world, eventually settling in Reno, NV.

Irene Inman

    Irene Inman Of San Francisco, died on her 98th birthday, October 17, 2007 at the Waters Edge Lodge in Alameda. Born Irene Cootey in Hilo, HI, in 1909, her professional education began in San Francisco in 1927. She became an RN, having trained at St. Mary's and St. Joseph's Hospitals. She met and soon married Verne Thompson Inman, M.D, PhD, a world renowned orthopedic surgeon who died in 1980. They had three sons, Robert, a noted scholar and author, who died last year; Thomas, who is principally retired; and Richard, an educator and executive in Hollister. Verne, a prominent researcher, and Irene traveled extensively throughout the world following WWII. They moved to the family ranch, now the historic Headen Inman Museum in Santa Clara, following his retirement in 1976. Verne remained an emeritus professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and at UCSF. Irene was active in community affairs and volunteered at both the Irwin Memorial Blood Bank and the San Francisco Chapter of Meals on Wheels. She was also an officer in the UCSF Women's Auxiliary and co-managed the UCSF Clothing Shoppe in the Fillmore District. Irene was an exceptional Bridge enthusiast, an avid sports fan and loved to cook, travel and entertain. At one time she was a seeded badminton player. Irene is survived by her sons, Tom and Rich, and their wives Judy and Diana; her daughter-in-law Joan Inman; grandchildren, Jeff Inman of Santa Fe, Mike Inman of Santa Rosa, Lisa Inman of San Francisco, Jessica Inman of Oakland, Amity Herrera of Las Vegas, Rich Inman, Jr. of Merced and Ryan Inman of San Marcus; and step-grandchildren, Jesse Estrada of Mira Mesa, Joana Estrada of South Lake Tahoe and Jessica Estrada of Watsonville; and great-granddaughter, Shaya of SF. A private service was held in Santa Clara on Friday, November 2, 2007.

    Margaret Anne Inman, who founded Providence Speech and Hearing Center in a small, adobe house in Orange and built it into one of the largest treatment facilities of its kind in the country, died Feb. 15 at her home in Newport Beach. She was 90.
    Inman, who had a heart condition, died in her sleep, said Christi Owen, a close friend.
    Trained as a speech pathologist, Inman began her career at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange in the mid-1960s, working in an office the size of a broom closet. She evaluated children with speech disabilities who had been referred to her by the medical staff.
    Young patients warmed to her, partly because at 4 feet 11 inches tall she was hardly intimidating. Inman's reputation quickly grew.
    "She was very gifted and had great insight into many of the children's problems," said Margaret McElroy, a longtime friend and colleague.
    Most days, a line of patients waited outside Inman's door.
    "There were very few places where doctors could refer children for evaluation," McElroy said.
    Encouraged by her hospital supervisor, Inman decided to open a clinic nearby where she could accommodate more patients and offer therapy as well as evaluation. She established her center in 1965.
    At the time, Inman was a nun known as Sister Ann Monica. She had become a member of the Sisters of Providence in 1937.
    She named the center in honor of her sisters. But, six years later, she found that her work was consuming and she left the religious order.
    "It was one of the hardest decisions of her life," McElroy said. "Margaret Anne had a calling to devote her entire life, with no distractions, to the center."
    One of her first patients was Mary Karcher, whose father, Carl, founded the Carl's Jr. fast-food chain. Mary overcame her speech problems under Inman's care and her father became a loyal supporter and member of the center's board of directors.
    Inman always saw her work as collaborative.
    "She was adamant about conferring with others in the medical community, including pediatric neurologists," McElroy said.
    She also kept up on new testing equipment and was one of the first in Southern California to acquire technology to measure auditory brain-stem response, said Owen, a speech pathologist who worked with Inman for about five years.
    "Margaret Anne would say, 'If you can't speak you can't communicate. You have no quality of life,' " Owen recalled.
    With few established techniques for treating young children with hearing and speech problems, Inman created some of her own. Most of them began with engaging a child in play.
    "For Margaret Anne, therapy emerged out of her rapport with the child," Owen said. "She had a way of drawing children in. They never feared her."
    Born April 5, 1917, in Greencastle, Ind., Inman earned a bachelor's degree in English at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana, where the Sisters of Providence were her teachers.
    She earned a master's degree in biology and speech pathology at Marquette University in Milwaukee.
    As a nun, she taught school for 15 years and became increasingly aware of children with learning impediments related to speech and hearing.
    "I think that prompted her to get into speech pathology," McElroy said.
    The Providence Speech and Hearing Center expanded to include six houses before a six-story building was erected next to St. Joseph Hospital in the 1980s. In recent years, Inman was emeritus director of the center. Among her many awards and honors, the Orange County Board of Supervisors proclaimed a "Dr. Margaret Anne Inman Day" in 1990.
    Inman never married and has no immediate survivors.
    A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 2046 Mar Vista Drive, Newport Beach.

CHARLES (Frederick) INMAN

    Charles "Chuck" Inman, 71, passed away on June 1, 2008, due to heart failure, in Apple Valley.
    He was born Sept. 6, 1937 in San Bernardino. He was a California resident for 70 years of which he lived 35 years in the Victor Valley area and 15 years in Apple Valley.
    He was formerly a carpenter/contractor for 50 years and for nine years he was a real estate appraiser with Golden State Appraisal Company.
Chuck loved fishing and hunting.
    He is survived by his wife, Nancy Inman of Apple Valley, daughter, Anne Saindon of Yucaipa, sons Charles "Buddy" Inman of Atascadero, Donnie Inman of Silver Lakes and Allen of Millroy, Ind. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
    Services for Chuck will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Sunset Hills Memorial Chapel, 24000 Waalew Road, Apple Valley.
    Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
